Conservation Efforts

In addition to advocating for the wellbeing of our animals’ wild counterparts here in our community, the Lion Habitat Ranch contributes to conservation through education and awareness, which are essential parts of protecting wildlife. When guests are able to see animals up close, learn their stories, and understand the challenges their species face in the wild, they are far more likely to feel inspired to support conservation on both a local and global scale.

While our animals live safely in the comfort of their habitats with the people who have cared for them their entire lives, their wild counterparts face ongoing threats such as human–wildlife conflict, habitat loss, and habitat fragmentation. Sharing this information with the public is a critical part of conservation, and it is one of the most impactful roles facilities like ours play.

As a smaller nonprofit facility, we are not always able to meet the monetary partnership requirements set by some conservation groups, but we continue to explore options that align with our mission and capacity. It is important to remember that conservation goes beyond financial contributions. Education, advocacy, and inspiring future wildlife stewards are equally vital.

• The Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) is the only NGO in the world that concentrates solely on the conservation and management of giraffes in the wild throughout Africa. https://giraffeconservation.org/
• The World Parrot Trust helps protect parrots and the places that they live. There are threats that many parrot species face, and the World Parrot Trust is committed to safeguarding them through focused conservation efforts. By collaborating closely with researchers, local communities, and governments, the World Parrot Trust leads and supports projects that preserve habitats, combat the illegal wildlife trade, and restores endangered species to the wild. https://parrots.org/
• SanWild was created in an effort to respond to wild animals in need, irrespective of their species importance. They have promised to be there wherever and whenever animals are in need. To continue this promise they need your support! https://www.sanwild.org/

At Lion Habitat Ranch, our commitment to conservation goes beyond protecting species. We also strive to conserve the resources we all share. That’s why we’ve partnered with Just Porch It– Don’t Be Trashy to help inspire our community to recycle textiles and reduce waste.

Textile waste creates far more pollution than many people realize, and small changes in how we reuse and recycle materials can make a meaningful difference. Together, we hope to encourage more sustainable choices that support both wildlife and the environment we all depend on.

Just Porch It – Don’t Be Trashy is an authorized collector and certified closed-loop textile recycler that provides businesses and residents with an easy way to donate unwanted clothing, shoes, and other soft goods. Sustainability is at the heart of our mission, and we are passionate about giving back to the communities we serve by partnering with local nonprofits, churches, schools, and other organizations. We currently work with more than 300 affiliates, providing them with access to textiles free of charge while also helping generate unrestricted revenue through our textile recycling program.
