Description
In-Person Field Trip Information
We offer structured, educational field trips designed to introduce students to wildlife, animal care, and conservation. During summer hours, field trips run from 9am–10am, and during winter hours from 10am–11am, available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. We also offer a year‑round 10am field trip option every Wednesday.
Each visit includes a guided tour led by one of our knowledgeable keepers, who share insights about our lions, parrots, ostriches, emus, and tortoises (weather permitting). Students learn about species biology, enrichment, and the role accredited facilities play in conservation.
Groups visiting on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays are welcome to stay after the guided portion to explore the ranch further. Since we are closed to the public on Wednesdays, extended exploration is not available on those days. Groups are welcome to bring packed lunches and enjoy them on-site Monday through Friday.
The Lion Habitat Ranch is committed to connecting students with wildlife and empowering them to understand how their everyday choices can support species conservation. Our goal is to inspire curiosity, compassion, and a lifelong appreciation for protecting the natural world.
We are an outdoor venue, so we advise everyone to dress for the weather. We do have shaded areas, an indoor building equipped with a swamp cooler, and areas with misters for the summer months to get guests out of the heat.
Pricing for field trips is $5 per student, and if you would like to add on popsicles for the field trip it would be $6 per student. For every 20 students in the group, 2 adults are included for free. Additional adults are $20 each. Children over the age of 14 are the same price as adults. There is no deposit required when booking field trips, but we do ask if you have to cancel a scheduled date to let us know as soon as possible. This way we can open that date for others booking field trips. If you are interested in booking a field trip, please fill out this form Field Trip Request Form

On‑Site Keeper Visit: Bringing Wildlife Education to You
Our On‑Site Keeper Visit program brings a knowledgeable animal care professional directly to your school, event, or community gathering for an engaging and educational experience. These visits are a great fit for Career Days, Girl Scout activities, sporting event activations, or a customized educational keeper talk tailored to your audience. To schedule an On-Site Keeper Visit, click here.
During the visit, a keeper shares insights into animal care, enrichment, conservation, and daily life at the Lion Habitat Ranch. Presentations may include biofacts, interactive demonstrations, and opportunities for Q&A, helping participants connect with wildlife in a meaningful and responsible way. All content is designed to be both fun and informative, highlighting the importance of ethical animal stewardship.
Please note: For the safety and wellbeing of our animal family, we do not take any of our animals off‑site. All off‑site programs are educational presentations led by our trained keepers.
This program is ideal for groups seeking a memorable, mission‑aligned learning experience without needing to travel to our facility.
Cost: In the past, our on‑site keeper visits (Bringing Wildlife Education to You) were free, but rising costs of caring for our animal family have made it necessary for us to add pricing for our on‑site keeper visits. As a small nonprofit, the Lion Habitat Ranch does not receive any state or federal funding. Everything we do is supported entirely through admissions, donations, purchases, and the grants we’re fortunate enough to receive. These changes help us continue providing the high‑quality care our animals depend on every single day.
NV Reading Week
Celebrate Nevada Reading Week with a special classroom visit from one of our keepers. During this literacy‑focused program, a keeper will come to your CCSD school to read an age‑appropriate, animal‑themed book and share fun, engaging facts that connect reading to wildlife education. This experience supports classroom literacy goals while inspiring curiosity, compassion, and a love of learning.
Keeper Reading Week visits are available exclusively during Nevada Reading Week and can be requested by teachers in grades Pre‑K through 12th. Availability is limited and scheduled on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
Please complete this form to request your preferred date and time. Our team will follow up to confirm your visit and coordinate details. NV Reading Week Request for CCSD Schools
